Innovation on Product Design Competition (INCEPTION 2012)

INCEPTION 2012 AS PIONEER OF NATIONAL PRODUCT DESIGN COMPETITION HELD BY INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, FACULTY OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY UII.

Industrial Technology UII – INCEPTION 2012 was the first product design competition held by Industrial Engineering UII. It purposed as a place for students competition who were impressed in designing product, and also as a research design media to product cloud computing based application considered fro, engineer system side. More than that, it could be place for society to know more about design science.

“INCEPTION 2012 is a competition which provides a place for knowing closer so many friends of other universities. It can increase our experiences, because in the working world, the 60% things needed are skills. Besides, it is n existence prove of Industrial Engineering Department,” said dean of Industrial Engineering, Drs. Ibnu Mastur , MSIE.

Firstly, INCEPTION 2012 was born based on idea of some students sitting under Manufacture System laboratory. The idea was fully supported by the department. Meant, INCEPTION 2012 was standing  under Industrial Engineering Department and had Drs. Ibnu Mastur, MSIE as guide, Sri Indrawati, ST. M.eng as responsible staff, and Burhanuddin Hakim as leader of committee.

 

INCEPTION was On Product Design Competition, taken from English language which means ‘The Birth of something’, deeply meant as the birth of new generation in product design competition, especially in Industrial Engineering UII environment. 

INCEPTION 2012 took Mobile Application Based on Cloud Competing System with Engineer Thinking theme because nowadays, product design sciences are spreading widely to the digital world as an effort for increasing the customers’ satisfying in the form of application and software product, as explained by the leader of INCEPTION 2012 committee in his speech.

The event was started on June 2012 with a series of selections steps in which 6 finalists from some universities passed the selection and were given chance to present their products before the judges on final and expo session, December, 13, 201, in Industrial Technology hall.

The judges of this event were Muhammad Ridwan Andi Purnomo, ST,MSc. Phd, an expert in Expert System, Slamet Riyadi, ST., MSc. Phd, an information system expert coming from Universitas Muhammadiah Yogyakarta, and  Sri Indrawati.ST., M.Eng, expert of product design strategy.

 

Catalan team from Universitas Gajah Mada won the first place and got 11.000.000 rupiahs as the price. Social Government UII won the second place and got 8.000.000 rupiahs, and the third place was won by Tripgather team UGM and got 6.000.000 rupiahs.

INCEPTION 2012 was also supported by sponsors;  E-Trifecta Solution as the main sponsor and some supporting sponsors; GKM Print, Bugs Traning Center, Movie Box dan Happy Puppy, Unisi Radio and Swaragama FM.
