The Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Universitas Islam Indonesia once again presented a Project Management Specialist, Ir. Sigit A. Wibowo, ST, MSM, PMP, IPM, ASEAN Eng, in the Project Management Guest Lecture #3 on (30/11). The activity with the theme “Project Quality & Project Risk Management in accordance with MPMP” was held online with 170 participants. This agenda aims to increase participants’ understanding of how to manage project quality and risk according to MPMP standards in order to support efforts to improve overall project performance.
Syawarani Gayatri as the MC opened the series of guest lectures by inviting a representative from the Project Management course teaching team, Elanjati Worldailmi, S.T., M.Sc., to deliver her warm welcome. “Hopefully today’s event will be smooth and useful. And become a picture of learning, understanding for all so that later you will know what to expect in the world of work if you happen to be involved in project management, so you have an idea too,” he said.
Project Quality Management
Furthermore, Zahwa Putri Aghniya as the moderator took over to guide the course of the material delivery session by Ir. Sigit A. Wibowo, ST, MSM, PMP, IPM, ASEAN Eng, who discussed the concept of quality and Quality Management Processes, including Plan Quality Management, Manage Quality, and Control Quality. “Well, first, Quality Management in this project departs from the PDCA concept. So if you have ever studied quality, there is such a thing as Plan-Do-Check-Action Cycle. Planning, doing, then this action cycle we try to check whether the policy standards that have been applied are in accordance with the quality that has been done,” he explained.
In addition, in Project Quality Management according to PMBOK, there are two important things that are of concern, namely processes and products. Both of these are the main focus in quality control. Quality Control is related to the product, while Quality Assurance is related to the process. This concept also emphasizes the importance of taking preventive action to avoid rework. It aims to reduce costs associated with the cost of inspection or non-conformance.
Project Risk Management
Then, the session continued on Project Risk Management material. This discussion included several important stages, namely Plan Risk Management, Identify Risk, Risk Register, and Plan Risk Responses. He explained that risk is basically an uncertainty that has not yet occurred. This is different from problems, which are real conditions and must occur. Then, he also explained about the Risk Management Plan, which includes strategy, methodology, rules and responsibilities, allocation of funds, and timing, namely when risks can occur and how to handle them.
“Risk Management Plan is a component or document that contains guidance, how we handle a risk. This Risk Management Plan is part of the Project Management Plan. Now, we will know the level or degree of certainty, the type of risk, and the possibility of a risk occurring in our project,” he explained. After that, a quiz game session by the participants was the closing of the last guest lecture related to project management this semester.
