Sharing Session: Tips and Tricks for S3 Study at Doctor of Industrial Engineering FIT UII

On Saturday (24/08), the Doctor of Industrial Engineering (DRI) Study Program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT) Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) successfully held its first sharing session. Featured the Head of the DRI UII Student Association, Dr. (cand). Ahmad Padhil, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., as speaker, the sharing session talked about Tips and Tricks for S3 Study at Doctor of Industrial Engineering, FTI UII. This activity took place online through a zoom meeting with 28 participants participating in it.

The event began at 09:00 WIB, with the MC greeting the participants enthusiastically. Following a quick introduction by the MC, the event moved on to the main agenda, which was the material delivery session. In his presentation, Ahmad Padhil discussed  several aspects related to the scheme and life of S3 lectures at DRI FTI UII, ranging from the curriculum, the number of credits, and the activities.

“In terms of aims and systems at UII, the Industrial Engineering Doctoral program’s courses are divided into progress activities that we will accomplish. This period lasts from the beginning to the end,  which is the sixth semester”, he stated, starting off a conversation regarding the flow of lectures and numerous activities throughout the semester.

Furthermore, he went through the S3 lecture method at DRI FTI UII, which offers numerous benefits to students. One example is the attendance system, which is integrated with UII Connect and allows students to fulfill academic commitments without needing to be physically present on campus. This allows for more flexibility and support for students who have structural responsibilities and other duties during the lecture session. Additionally, doctoral students have access to campus residential. DRI FTI UII also actively hosts and participates in a variety of activities, including competitions, international webinars, and collaboration with external organizations.

“Alhamdulillah we have a considerable number of activities at DRI.  Even though we work online, when we do get to Jogja, those activities can be carried out productively and to the fullest,” he said.

As the Q&A session began, Ahmad Padhil, a member of the first cohort of  DRI FTI UII students shared study tips by answering questions from the attending academic peers. The sharing session event ended with a group photo session.

Sharing Session: Tips & Trik kuliah S3 di Doktor Rekayasa Industri FTI UII

Program Studi Rekayasa Industri Program Doktor Fakultas Teknologi Industri Universitas Islam Indonesia ( DRI UII) sukses mengadakan sharing session perdana pada Sabtu (24/08). Menghadirkan Ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa DRI UII, Dr (cand). Ir. Ahmad Padhil, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., sebagai narasumber, kegiatan sharing session ini membahas seputar Tips & Trik Kuliah S3 di Program Doktor Rekayasa Industri FTI UII. Kegiatan ini berlangsung secara daring melalui zoom meeting dengan 28 partisipan di dalamnya.

Sharing session dimulai pada pukul 09:00 WIB oleh MC yang menyapa peserta dengan hangat. Kemudian kegiatan memasuki agenda utama yaitu penyampaian materi. Dalam presentasinya, beliau mengulas berbagai aspek terkait skema dan kehidupan perkuliahan S3 di DRI FTI UII, mulai dari kurikulum, jumlah SKS, hingga aktivitas yang ada.

“Secara target dan sistem di UII, pada program Doktor Rekayasa Industri, mata kuliah dipecah menjadi kegiatan-kegiatan progres yang akan kita lakukan. Tahapan ini berlangsung dari awal hingga menuju selesai yaitu semester 6,“ ungkap beliau membuka pembahasan mengenai alur perkuliahan.

Lebih lanjut beliau mengulik sistem perkuliahan S3 di DRI FTI UII yang memberikan banyak manfaat bagi mahasiswanya. Salah satu contohnya adalah sistem kehadiran yang terintegrasi dengan UII Connect sehingga mahasiswa dapat memenuhi kewajiban akademis tanpa perlu selalu hadir secara fisik di kampus. Hal ini memberikan keleluasaan dan dukungan bagi mahasiswa yang memiliki keterikatan struktural maupun tanggung jawab lain selama masa perkuliahan. Sebagai tambahan, terdapat fasilitas residensial kampus yang dapat digunakan oleh mahasiswa S3. DRI FTI UII juga aktif menyelenggarakan dan berpartisipasi dalam berbagai kegiatan seperti lomba, webinar internasional, serta kegiatan kolaboratif lainnya bersama pihak eksternal.

“Nah, selain itu, kalau di DRI alhamdulillah kegiatannya lumayan banyak Bapak-Ibu. Padahal kita ini kerjanya secara daring, tapi sekali ke Jogja, kegiatan itu bisa secara produktif dilakukan dengan maksimal,” ujar beliau.

Memasuki sesi tanya jawab, Ahmad Padhil yang merupakan mahasiswa DRI FTI UII angkatan pertama ini membagikan tips perkuliahan dengan menjawab pertanyaan dari rekan-rekan akademisi yang hadir. Kegiatan siang itu ditutup dengan sesi dokumentasi bersama.

Handover of Internship Students of PT Yamaha Indonesia and Thesis Defense

On Monday (02/09), students of Industrial Engineering Study Program of Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT) Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) attended the handover ceremony of internship students at PT Yamaha Indonesia office. This internship program is part of the cooperation between PT Yamaha Indonesia and the Industrial Engineering Study Program of FTI UII, which has long been established. Through this cooperation, students who pass the partnership internship selection can join the program. In the XIX batch, Industrial Engineering Study Program FTI UII sent seven students for internship.

The handover ceremony was accompanied by several lecturers of Industrial Engineering Study Program FTI UII, namely Wahyudhi Sutrisno, S.T., M.M., M.T., Ir. Muchamad Sugarindra, S.T., M.T.I., IPM, and Elanjati Worldailmi, S.T., M.Sc. In addition, Department Secretary Dr. Taufiq Immawan, S.T., M.M. was also present and gave a speech. In his speech, Dr. Taufiq conveyed a message for the students to remain enthusiastic and maximize their potential during their internship at PT Yamaha Indonesia. This message is in line with the expectations of Vice President of PT Yamaha Indonesia, Samsudin, who also emphasized the importance of maintaining enthusiasm and health during the internship program.

Meanwhile, Audiamara Vinka expressed her hope as one of the interns “I hope that by participating in the internship, I can open my eyes to how the world of work works and can make a good contribution to the company with my abilities” she said.

Completion of The XVIII Batch Internship Program

This handover also marks the completion of the XVIII batch internship program which has lasted for six months. This is at the same time to carry out the Awareness Program at the company. The students who have completed the internship are expected to be able to develop their skills based on the experience gained during this program. In addition, this partnership internship program is expected to support the industry’s need for competent workers in their fields.

Zahra Nasywari Firdantara, one of the internship students at PT Yamaha Indonesia, revealed that the internship at the company was very valuable because it provided a deep understanding of the application of industrial knowledge in the field. In the Production Engineering division, Zahra applied the concept of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze inventory, lead time, line balancing, defect goods, study time, and work sampling in order to identify waste and increase productivity with the improvement method (kaizen). 

He added that the projects undertaken during the internship can also be used as material for Practical Work (KP) and Final Project (TA). “So, we don’t have to bother looking for data anymore because everything is in line with the internship project,” he added. “Internship at Yamaha is really worth it, because we understand more about industrial science. If in lectures we only know the material, here we can understand the material as well as its application in the field,” said Zahra. 

She also emphasized the importance of patience and communication to explain the concept and work together on repair projects. Her experience shows the importance of preparation, knowledge and interpersonal skills to maximize internship opportunities and develop yourself in the industry.

Serah Terima Mahasiswa Magang PT Yamaha Indonesia Batch XIX dan Pendadaran Mahasiswa Batch XVIII

Pada Senin (02/09), mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Industri Fakultas Teknologi Industri (FTI) Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) menghadiri acara serah terima mahasiswa magang di kantor PT Yamaha Indonesia. Program magang ini merupakan bagian dari kerja sama antara PT Yamaha Indonesia dan Prodi Teknik Industri FTI UII, yang sudah lama terjalin. Melalui kerja sama ini, mahasiswa yang lolos seleksi magang jalur kemitraan dapat mengikuti program tersebut. Pada batch ke XIX, Prodi Teknik Industri FTI UII mengirimkan tujuh mahasiswanya untuk magang.

Acara serah terima ini didampingi oleh beberapa dosen Prodi Teknik Industri FTI UII, yaitu Wahyudhi Sutrisno, S.T., M.M., M.T., Ir. Muchamad Sugarindra, S.T., M.T.I., IPM., dan Elanjati Worldailmi, S.T., M.Sc. Selain itu, Sekretaris Jurusan Dr. Taufiq Immawan, S.T., M.M. juga hadir dan memberikan sambutan. Dalam sambutannya, Dr. Taufiq menyampaikan pesan agar para mahasiswa tetap semangat dan memaksimalkan potensi diri selama magang di PT Yamaha Indonesia. Pesan ini sejalan dengan harapan Vice President PT Yamaha Indonesia, Samsudin, yang juga menekankan pentingnya menjaga semangat dan kesehatan selama menjalani program magang.

Adapun, Audiamara Vinka menyampaikan harapannya sebagai dari salah satu pemagang “Harapan saya dengan mengikuti magang dapat membuka pandangan bagaimana dunia kerja berjalan dan dapat memberikan kontribusi yang baik kepada perusahaan dengan kemampuan yang saya miliki” ucapnya.


Serah terima ini juga menandai selesainya program magang batch XVIII yang telah berlangsung selama enam bulan. Hal ini sekaligus untuk melaksanakan Pendadaran di perusahaan tersebut. Para mahasiswa yang telah menyelesaikan magang diharapkan mampu mengembangkan keterampilan mereka berdasarkan pengalaman yang diperoleh selama program ini. Selain itu, program magang jalur kemitraan ini diharapkan dapat mendukung kebutuhan industri akan tenaga kerja yang kompeten di bidangnya.

Zahra Nasywari Firdantara, salah satu mahasiswa magang di PT Yamaha Indonesia, mengungkapkan bahwa magang di perusahaan tersebut sangat berharga karena memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang penerapan ilmu industri di lapangan. Di divisi Production Engineering, Zahra menerapkan konsep Value Stream Mapping (VSM) untuk menganalisis inventory, lead time, line balancing, barang defect, study time, dan work sampling guna mengidentifikasi waste dan meningkatkan produktivitas dengan metode perbaikan (kaizen).

Ia menambahkan bahwa proyek yang dikerjakan selama magang juga bisa digunakan sebagai bahan Kerja Praktik (KP) dan Tugas Akhir (TA). “Jadi, kita tidak perlu repot-repot mencari data lagi karena semuanya sudah sejalan dengan proyek magang,” tambahnya. “Magang di Yamaha itu worth it banget, karena kita jadi lebih paham tentang ilmu industri. Kalau di perkuliahan kita hanya tahu materinya saja, di sini kita bisa memahami materinya sekaligus aplikasinya di lapangan,” ujar Zahra.

Ia juga menekankan pentingnya kesabaran dan komunikasi untuk menjelaskan konsep tersebut dan bekerja sama dalam proyek perbaikan. Pengalamannya menunjukkan pentingnya persiapan, pemahaman ilmu, dan keterampilan interpersonal untuk memaksimalkan kesempatan magang dan mengembangkan diri di industri.

Department of Industrial Engineering Opens Discussion on Assistance for the Needs of MSMEs and SMEs in the Sleman Region

On Friday (16/07), the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) held a discussion related to the needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) in the Sleman area. This activity is the first step in the establishment of the UMKM Academy by the Department of Industrial Engineering UII by collaborating with the Sleman Regency Government’s Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag).

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering FTI UII, Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc. Also present at the opening of the event were the Head of Disperindag, Dra. Raden Rara Mae Rusmi Suryaningsih, Associate Expert Instructor from Disperindag Sleman Herry Murthala, Vice Dean Dr. Ir. Agus Mansur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., IPU, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Kusrini, MT, CPIM, CSCP, SCOR-P. 

In his speech, Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc. said “We (IT FTI UII) will help you in developing any business that needs help. Later, students can also help.” He hopes that this discussion can encourage economic growth through MSMEs and SMEs in the Sleman area.

The discussion involved 50 representatives of MSMEs and SMEs from various sectors divided into eight FGD groups. Lecturers of the Industrial Engineering Department of FTI UII accompanied each group, providing direction and assistance to develop the business. Then, UMKM and IKM representatives will convey the problems and training they need.

Elanjati Worldailmi, S.T., M.Sc., lecturer of IT FTI UII said “So this is the forerunner and the first step by establishing a partnership first with Disperindag. We map by inviting and calling SMEs and SMEs in the Sleman area. and in clusters per field with accompanying lecturers.” He further explained that all problems will be followed up by providing the necessary training.

The Department of Industrial Engineering FTI UII established the UMKM Academy to provide concrete support for MSMEs and SMEs in Sleman. This program aims to help MSMEs and SMEs develop through continuous assistance from academics. The department also collaborates with Sleman’s Trade Department to support local economic empowerment. 

Dra. Raden Rara Mae Rusmi Suryaningsih said “So, the government synergizes with universities to assist Sleman Regency MSME players so that they are more competitive. So what assistance is needed by MSME players.” Furthermore, she expressed her hope that Sleman Regency MSMEs can continue to consistently run their businesses.

Herry Murthala said that today’s discussion was very useful for SMEs in increasing collaboration between Rumah Kreatif Sleman and the Department of Industrial Engineering FTI UII to explore problems and find solutions. He hopes that this meeting can encourage synergy between SMEs and the Department of Industrial Engineering FTI UII in research and mentoring, especially in product development.

Then, as for Ilham, a representative of IKM from Zatra, said his impression, that this discussion was quite informative and weighty by telling the business profile and what obstacles were faced. He also hopes that other MSMEs can have the same opportunity.

Jurusan Teknik Industri Membuka Diskusi Pendampingan Untuk Kebutuhan UMKM dan IKM Wilayah Sleman

Pada Jum’at (16/07) Jurusan Teknik Industri Fakultas Teknologi Industri (FTI) Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) menyelenggarakan diskusi terkait kebutuhan Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM) serta Industri Kecil Menengah (IKM) di wilayah Sleman. Kegiatan ini menjadi langkah awal pembentukan Akademi UMKM oleh Jurusan Teknik Industri UII dengan menggandeng Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan (Disperindag) Pemerintah Kabupaten Sleman.

Acara ini dibuka secara resmi oleh Ketua Jurusan Teknik Industri FTI UII, Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc. Turut hadir dalam pembukaan acara tersebut, Kepala Disperindag, Dra. Raden Rara Mae Rusmi Suryaningsih, Penyuluh Ahli Madya dari Disperindag Sleman Herry Murthala, Wakil Dekan Dr. Ir. Agus Mansur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., IPU., serta Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Kusrini, MT, CPIM, CSCP, SCOR-P. 

Dalam sambutannya, Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc. mengatakan “Kami (TI FTI UII) akan membantu bapak-ibu dalam mengembangkan bisnis apa pun yang perlu dibantu. Nanti juga, dapat dibantu oleh mahasiswa.” Beliau berharap diskusi ini dapat mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi melalui UMKM maupun IKM wilayah Sleman.

Diskusi ini melibatkan 50 perwakilan UMKM dan IKM dari berbagai sektor yang terbagi dalam delapan kelompok FGD. Dosen Jurusan Teknik Industri FTI UII mendampingi setiap kelompok, memberikan arahan dan pendampingan untuk mengembangkan usaha. Kemudian, Perwakilan UMKM dan IKM akan menyampaikan masalah serta pelatihan yang mereka butuhkan.

Elanjati Worldailmi, S.T., M.Sc., dosen TI FTI UII mengatakan “Jadi ini, cikal bakal dan langkah awal dengan menjalin rekanan dulu dengan Disperindag. Kita memetakan dengan cara mengundang dan memanggil  IKM dan UMKM di area Sleman. dan di cluster perbidang dengan dosen yang dampingi.” lebih lanjut beliau menerangkan bahwa semua permasalahan akan ditindaklanjuti dengan pemberian pelatihan yang diperlukan.

Jurusan Teknik Industri FTI UII membentuk Akademi UMKM untuk memberikan dukungan konkret bagi UMKM dan IKM di Sleman. Program ini bertujuan membantu UMKM dan IKM berkembang melalui pendampingan berkelanjutan dari akademisi. Oleh karena itu,  Jurusan juga bekerja sama dengan Disperindag Sleman untuk mendukung pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal. 

Dra. Raden Rara Mae Rusmi Suryaningsih mengatakan “Jadi, pemerintah bersinergi dengan perguruan tinggi untuk mendampingi para pelaku UMKM Kabupaten Sleman agar mereka lebih berdaya saing. Sehingga pendampingan apa sih yang dibutuhkan oleh para pelaku UMKM.” Lebih lanjut, beliau menyatakan harapannya terkait UMKM Kabupaten Sleman untuk dapat terus konsisten menjalankan Usahanya.

Herry Murthala menyampaikan bahwa diskusi hari ini sangat bermanfaat bagi pelaku IKM dalam meningkatkan kolaborasi antara Rumah Kreatif Sleman dan Jurusan Teknik Industri FTI UII untuk menggali permasalahan dan mencari solusinya. Beliau berharap pertemuan ini dapat mendorong sinergi antara pelaku IKM dan Jurusan Teknik Industri FTI UII dalam riset dan pendampingan, khususnya dalam pengembangan produk.

Kemudian, adapun Ilham perwakilan IKM dari Zatra mengatakan kesannya, bahwa diskusi ini cukup informatif dan berbobot dengan menceritakan profil usaha dan kendala apa saja yang dihadapi. Beliau pun berharap UMKM lainnya dapat memiliki kesempatan yang sama.

Akademi UMKM ini menjadi langkah strategis untuk memetakan dan mengembangkan potensi UMKM dan IKM di Sleman, dengan fokus pada peningkatan kompetensi serta daya saing para pelaku usaha di tingkat regional maupun nasional. Selanjutnya, diskusi diakhiri dengan sesi foto bersama.

National Monthly Webinar: Circular Product Design in Recent Advancements

The UII FTI Industrial Engineering Study Program hosted another National Monthly Webinar on Friday (02/8). The fourth national webinar, titled “Circular Product Design: Principles and Recent Advances,” featured Sri Indrawati, S.T., M.Eng., as the guest speaker. The webinar focused on the ideas and characteristics of circular product design for a more sustainable future. The event was attended by 62 people online via Zoom Meeting, including UII Industrial Engineering academics and members of the general public. Nada Putri Fauziyah, the MC, began the webinar series at 09:00 WIB. Furthermore, the moderator, Sayyidah Maulidatul Afraah, S.T., M.T., provided a quick introduction by reading the speakers’ CVs before starting the material session.

In her presentation, Sri Indrawati explained that the concept of circular economy emerged as a response to many issues raised by the linear economy’s “take, make, dispose” model. These issues encouraged the development of the circular economy, an economic model that promotes a wiser and more sustainable approach by reducing consumption while increasing resource reuse. 

“In this way, we can ensure that future generations still have access to the same wealth of resources,” she said. Sri Indrawati also explained how the circular economy changes the economic paradigm to “make, use, recycle.”

Furthermore, she mentioned that Circular Product Design is the process of designing products that can operate constantly in a closed cycle. It aims to increase the product’s life cycle by reducing waste and returning raw materials and components into the system as new resources. A product is considered circular if it can keep its value throughout its life cycle and fits certain characteristics, such as being reusable, recyclable, remanufactured, refurbished, or including recycled materials. Circular products that already exist in society include products without packaging, recharging stations, and MUD Jeans, a fashion brand that offers jeans made from 40% fabric waste.

Circular Product Design

In the end, she noted that research on circular products would continue to grow, as the three main strategies of circular products—slowing, closing, narrowing—can increase the potential of achieving the SDGs. The development of circular product innovation must continue in order to create economic opportunities and a more sustainable as well as better future. She hopes that the circular product principle will be developed not only theoretically, but also practically. The moderator wrapped up the webinar with a Q&A session about circular products that are already available in society.

National Monthly Webinar: Desain Produk Sirkular dalam Kemajuan Terkini

Program Studi Teknik Industri FTI UII kembali menyelenggarakan National Monthly Webinar pada Jumat (02/08). Mengusung tema “Desain Produk Sirkular: Prinsip dan Kemajuan Terkini,” webinar nasional keempat ini menghadirkan Sri Indrawati, S.T., M.Eng., sebagai narasumber. Webinar berfokus pada pembahasan prinsip dan karakteristik desain produk sirkular untuk mencapai masa depan yang berkelanjutan. Sebanyak 62 partisipan, termasuk akademisi Teknik Industri UII dan masyarakat umum, mengikuti kegiatan ini secara daring melalui Zoom Meeting. MC, Nada Putri Fauziyah membuka rangkaian webinar pada pukul 09.00 WIB. Selanjutnya, moderator, Sayyidah Maulidatul Afraah, S.T., M.T., memberikan pengantar singkat dengan membacakan CV narasumber sebelum memasuki sesi materi.

Dalam presentasinya, Sri Indrawati menjelaskan bahwa konsep ekonomi sirkular muncul sebagai respons terhadap berbagai masalah yang muncul dari konsep “take, make, dispose” pada ekonomi linear. Permasalahan ini mendorong berkembangnya pemikiran mengenai ekonomi sirkular, yaitu sebuah model ekonomi yang menawarkan pendekatan lebih bijaksana dan berkelanjutan dengan meminimalkan konsumsi dan memaksimalkan penggunaan ulang sumber daya. 

“Dengan cara ini, kita dapat memastikan generasi mendatang masih memiliki akses terhadap kekayaan sumber daya yang sama,” ujarnya. Beliau juga menjelaskan bahwa ekonomi sirkular mengubah paradigma ekonomi menjadi “make, use, recycle.”

Selanjutnya, beliau menjelaskan bahwa Circular Product Design merujuk pada perancangan produk yang dapat terus beroperasi dalam siklus tertutup. Hal ini bertujuan memperpanjang siklus hidup produk dengan meminimalkan limbah dan mengembalikan bahan baku serta komponen ke dalam sistem sebagai sumber daya baru. Produk dikatakan sebagai produk sirkular jika dapat mempertahankan value-nya sepanjang siklus hidup serta memenuhi karakteristik, seperti reusable, recyclable, remanufactured, refurbished, atau termasuk recycled product. Contoh produk sirkular yang telah ada di masyarakat meliputi produk tanpa kemasan, stasiun pengisian ulang, dan MUD Jeans, merek fashion yang menjual jeans dengan 40% bahannya berasal dari limbah kain jeans.

Circular Product Design

Sebagai penutup, Beliau menyampaikan bahwa penelitian mengenai produk sirkular akan terus berkembang, mengingat tiga strategi utama produk sirkular—slowing, closing, dan narrowing—dapat meningkatkan potensi tercapainya SDGs. Pengembangan inovasi produk sirkular perlu dilanjutkan untuk membuka peluang ekonomi serta mencapai masa depan yang berkelanjutan dan lebih baik. Beliau berharap prinsip produk sirkular tidak hanya berkembang dalam teori, tetapi juga dalam praktik. UII Industrial Engineering Student Wins Best Student Paper at GTSD 2024

Nada Putri Fauziyah, a student of Industrial Engineering at Universitas Islam Indonesia (TI UII), won the Best Student Paper award at the International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD) 2024 by HCMC University of Technology and Education as the organizer on July 25-26, 2024 in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In this prestigious conference, Nada compiled a paper with other friends, Mutia Putri Gaisani, Prita Nurkhalisa, and Roaida Yanti with the title “Understanding Consumer Behavior and Market Segmentation using Non-Hierarchical Clustering Method: A Case Study of Café Culturehead in Yogyakarta” which raised the theme of Data Management and Machine Learning, one of the 35 themes available at the conference.

Nada’s Preparation

To prepare her presentation, Nada took about two months. “I started compiling and submitting papers since May and in June I received an acceptance notification for the opportunity to present at HCMC University of Technology and Education,” said Nada. There were two modes of presentation, offline on July 25 and online on July 26. She chose to present offline on July 25 and managed to bring home the Best Student Paper award on the same night.

Preparing for the conference was not easy. “Because I really want to participate in competitions or activities that are international, I tried to ask Mr. Qurtubi who is one of UII’s IT lecturers. There I was given several choices of international conferences, and fell on the choice of GTSD 2024. Then, Mutia and Prita and I wrote the paper together,” she said. After going through various obstacles, Nada received support from friends, family, and alumni, including Yanti as a 2019 Industrial Engineering alumni who became the fourth co-author and accompanied her to Vietnam.

Nada’s Message to Other Students

Then, Nada also gave a message to other students who wanted to take part in a similar competition. “Opportunities don’t come twice. If given the time and ability to follow and try new experiences, why not? Never be afraid to try and totality without limits to make UII proud from the Industrial Engineering Study Program,” she said. He also emphasized the importance of not feeling inferior to one’s abilities and to always try to achieve dreams. Nada Putri Fauziyah has brought the good name of UII and Industrial Engineering study program to the international arena. This proves that Indonesian students are able to compete at the global level.

Mahasiswa Teknik Industri UII Raih Best Student Paper di GTSD 2024

Nada Putri Fauziyah, mahasiswa Teknik Industri Universitas Islam Indonesia (TI UII), meraih penghargaan Best Student Paper dalam ajang International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD) 2024 oleh HCMC University of Technology and Education sebagai penyelenggara pada 25-26 Juli 2024 di Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Dalam konferensi bergengsi ini, Nada menyusun paper bersama teman lainnya, Mutia Putri Gaisani, Prita Nurkhalisa, dan Roaida Yanti dengan judul “Understanding Consumer Behavior and Market Segmentation using Non-Hierarchical Clustering Method: A Case Study of Café Culturehead in Yogyakarta” yang mengangkat tema Data Management and Machine Learning, salah satu dari 35 tema yang tersedia dalam konferensi tersebut.

Persiapan Nada

Untuk mempersiapkan presentasinya, Nada membutuhkan waktu sekitar dua bulan. “Saya mulai menyusun dan mengirimkan paper sejak bulan Mei dan pada bulan Juni saya mendapat notifikasi acceptance untuk berkesempatan presentasi di HCMC University of Technology and Education,” ujar Nada. Terdapat dua mode dalam melaksanakan presentasi, yaitu offline pada 25 Juli dan online pada 26 Juli. Ia memilih untuk melakukan presentasi secara offline pada 25 Juli dan berhasil membawa pulang penghargaan Best Student Paper pada malam yang sama.

Persiapan untuk konferensi ini tidaklah mudah. “Karena aku pingin banget ikut kompetisi atau kegiatan yang berbau international, aku mencoba buat tanya-tanya ke Pak Qurtubi yang merupakan salah satu dosen TI UII. Di sana aku dikasih beberapa pilihan conference internasional, dan jatuhlah pada pilihan GTSD 2024. Terus di situ aku sama Mutia dan Prita nyusun paper bareng” ujarnya. Setelah melalui berbagai kendala, Nada mendapat dukungan dari teman-teman, keluarga, dan para alumni, termasuk Yanti selaku alumni Teknik Industri 2019 yang menjadi co-author keempat dan ikut mendampinginya ke Vietnam.

Kemudian, Nada juga memberikan pesan kepada mahasiswa lain yang ingin mengikuti lomba serupa. “Kesempatan tidak datang dua kali. Jika diberikan waktu dan kemampuan untuk mengikuti dan mencoba pengalaman baru, why not? Jangan pernah takut untuk mencoba dan totalitas tanpa batas untuk mengharumkan nama baik UII dari Prodi Teknik Industri” pesannya. Ia juga menekankan pentingnya tidak merasa minder dengan kemampuan diri dan untuk selalu berusaha mencapai impian. Nada Putri Fauziyah telah membawa nama baik UII dan prodi Teknik Industri ke kancah internasional. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa mahasiswa Indonesia mampu bersaing ke tingkat global.
