UII Industrial Engineering Launches MSME Academy to Support Small Businesses
On Wednesday (13/11), the Industrial Engineering Department of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) held the Grand Opening of the MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) Academy. This event marks the continuation of previous MSME mentoring programs. The ceremony took place at the MSME Academy building, located west of KH Mas Mansyur Building, and was attended by FTI UII Vice Dean for Resources, Dr. Ir. Agus Mansur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., IPU, Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, Dr. Drs. Imam Djati Widodo, M.Eng.Sc., Secretary of the Industrial Engineering Department, Dr. Taufiq Immawan, S.T., M.M., and a representative from the Department of Industry and Trade (DISPERINDAG), Dwi Wulandari, S.T., M.Ec.Dev., who serves as Head of the Industry Division. The event featured the Grand Opening ceremony followed by training sessions for 43 participating MSMEs.
Grand Opening
The event commenced at 9:00 AM with an opening by the MC, followed by a Quran recitation and the national anthem Indonesia Raya. The next agenda was a speech by the Vice Dean of FTI UII. In his remarks, he congratulated the establishment of the MSME Academy and expressed hope for fruitful collaboration with MSMEs to drive societal progress.
“Alhamdulillah for the Grand Opening of the MSME Academy today. This initiative represents UII Industrial Engineering’s commitment to supporting MSMEs. We hope this academy will become a sustainable support system for MSMEs by offering training programs that help them achieve production and management standards, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and welfare,” he stated.
A representative from DISPERINDAG also delivered remarks, expressing enthusiasm for the academy’s inauguration and readiness to collaborate with UII Industrial Engineering.
“We are thrilled to have a partner in supporting MSMEs. The establishment of this academy brings new hope for us. We also have the Sleman Creative House ready to collaborate with UII Industrial Engineering in mentoring MSMEs,” she said.
The main event, the Grand Opening of the MSME Academy, was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the traditional cutting of tumpeng rice, symbolizing the inauguration. The Industrial Engineering leadership team and DISPERINDAG representatives joined in the event.
MSME Training Sessions
Following the Grand Opening, training sessions were conducted by Industrial Engineering lecturers for the MSME participants. The sessions were divided into two classes: Digital Marketing, held at the MSME Academy room, and Product Design, held at Learning Space 2, FTI UII.
Chancard Basumerda, S.T., M.Sc., led the Digital Marketing session, covering marketing strategies to boost sales and brand awareness using digital media. Meanwhile, Ir. Abdullah ‘Azzam, S.T., M.T., IPM., conducted the Product Design session, focusing on Robust Design, which outlines methods for product development to enhance performance while minimizing the impact of uncontrollable factors.
The MSME participants enthusiastically attended the training sessions. Through the MSME Academy, UII Industrial Engineering hopes to continue contributing to the advancement of MSMEs with sustained mentoring and support.
