Industrial Visit to PT. Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk & Rumah Atsiri Indonesia
On Friday (07/06), Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Universitas Islam Indonesia held an industrial visit to Sukoharjo and Tawamangu, Central Java. This visit was in the form of Company and Educational Visit and was attended by around 250 Industrial Engineering students batch of 2022. Students visited two companies, namely PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (PT. Sritex) which focuses on integrated textile production and Rumah Atsiri Indonesia which produces essential oils.
This industrial visit was accompanied by several supervisors, including Ir. Hartomo, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng, Yuli Agusti Rochman, S.T., M.Eng, Dr. Dwi Adi Purnama, S.T, Putri Dwi Annisa, S.T., M.Sc, Sayyidah Maulidatul Afraah, S.T., M.T, and Zelania In Haryanto, S.T., M.T.
Company Visit to PT. Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk
On the first visit to PT. Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (PT. Sritex), participants listened to an explanation of the production system from the yarn spinning process to finished garments and employee empowerment delivered by Sugi from the Human Resource Department (HRD) of PT. Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (PT. Sritex) Sukoharjo branch. Then, there was a question and answer session and a direct visit to the clothing production process.
In his speech, Sugi expressed his hope, “It is a challenge for intellectual candidates, how to maintain the Indonesian manufacturing industry to exist. Don’t let Bangladesh slip, then Cambodia will slip again. Well, this is the challenge for all of you”.
Hartomo, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng., as a representative of UII, also said that the purpose of this industrial visit is as a practical learning about manufacturing activities and quality control, so that students can explore the science of the manufacturing industry.
The enthusiasm of the participants was clearly visible during the discussion session, where they actively asked about the production process and employee empowerment of PT. Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (PT. Sritex) in the military uniform industry to fashion products.
Educational Visit to Rumah Atsiri Indonesia
Furthermore, during the visit to Rumah Atsiri Indonesia, participants were divided into small groups with the assistance of guides from Rumah Atsiri. Participants were introduced to various types of aromatherapy plants, learned the history of Rumah Atsiri Indonesia, and learned about the aroma oil refining process.
In the mentoring, participants were not only introduced to the types of plants cultivated but were also invited to smell the aroma of the plants to try tasting certain plants. Then, participants were also introduced to the origin of the development of essential oils in world civilization.
From this educational visit, participants gained a lot of insight related to the origin of essential oils, uses, refining processes, as well as products that can be produced from aromatic plants.
The Company & Educational Visit program went smoothly, and participants were satisfied and gained more insight into the manufacturing industry and the essential oil industry.
